Well we're almost to the close of another year, and it's usually the time when folks sit back and reflect on what the past 12 months have brought to them, whether good or bad. Let's hope that for all our visitors, 2007 has been especially good and that 2008 will be even better.

I would like to thank the many folks who took time to visit The Port Albert Project since we went live back in August, and allowed us to share their visit with others. A very special thank you to all who submitted articles and / or photos for inclusion on the site. The sharing of your personal recollections of Port Albert has, in some small way, touched the inner being of all those who have a link to this wonderful community.

For this year-end commentary, there's a couple of new things that I'd like to point out to our visitors. Firstly, there's the planned family reunion for descendants of Thomas Elliott, one of the originating founders of the community of Little Beaver Cove, which later went on to become Port Albert. I know that there's a lot of folks looking forward to the big event, and anything that The Port Albert Project can do to help promote the festivities, we will be only too glad to do so.

Secondly, with today's site update, a new "Genealogy" section has been added. We are beginning with the descendants of Thomas Elliott, as we felt that this would tie in nicely with the upcoming Elliott family reunion. It is realized that this list is far from complete, and subject to errors, so please feel free to write us and let us know where information is missing or incorrect.

I will close my short note as I still have a few things to do before I leave for Newfoundland on the 24th. We will be celebrating Christmas as a family for the first time in 7 long years this year. The one sad note is that my mom will not be joining us due to the bad weather everyone's been experiencing of late, and her reluctance to make the 4 hour drive by herself from Lewisporte to St. John's. It will be a whirlwind trip, what with my arriving on Christmas Eve and flying back to NB on the 27th!! Long enough to have a bite to eat and to dodge on again.

So from our house to yours, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you the very best for the Christmas season and peace and prosperity in the coming year.
