Changing The Name - A Royal Proclamation

It was in the early part of the 20th Century that a petition was brought before the Government of the day to change the name from Litte Beaver Cove to Port Albert. As can be seen by the attached documentation, a series of correspondences and Gazettes were issued, until the name was officially changed on 21 March 1916.

Letter written by the Colonial Secretary

It is not known to whom the Colonial Secretary was directing this letter, but it refers to some correspondence dated 15 Aug 1915, possibly related to the changing of the name of the community. It makes reference to the letter from Mr. Elliott, and as in the previous letter from the Deputy Colonial Secretary, requests that steps be taken to ensure that the Little Beaver Cove being Gazetted reflected in the proper electoral district.
