Changing The Name - A Royal Proclamation
It was in the early part of the 20th Century that a petition was brought before the Government of the day to change the name from Litte Beaver Cove to Port Albert. As can be seen by the attached documentation, a series of correspondences and Gazettes were issued, until the name was officially changed on 21 March 1916.

This is a letter written by Mr. Herbert Elliott, Postmaster of Little Beaver Cove on 20 Jan 1916, to the Colonial Secretary in St. John's, advising that the name change had been Gazetted showing Little Beaver Cove to be in the wrong electoral district.
