Changing The Name - A Royal Proclamation
It was in the early part of the 20th Century that a petition was brought before the Government of the day to change the name from Litte Beaver Cove to Port Albert. As can be seen by the attached documentation, a series of correspondences and Gazettes were issued, until the name was officially changed on 21 March 1916.

The original copy of the newspaper announcement by the Colonial Secretary on 22 Nov 1915, announcing the proposed name change from Little Beaver Cove to Port Albert. Near the top, you can see where someone has written in the date of 11 Dec 1915. It is believed that this is a copy of the announcement that was returned to the Colonial Secretary by Mr. Herbert Elliott.
